April 13 (Reuters) - Generic drugmaker Perrigo Co said its Israeli partner Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd received approval to sell over-the-counter copycat version of Sanofi-Aventis' allergy drug Allegra.

Perrigo bought rights from Teva to sell and distribute OTC versions of Fexofenadine HCl 180 mg and 60 mg tablets, copycats of Sanofi's Allegra and Allegra D-12 products, in 2010.

The company said it expects to immediately start distribution of the OTC drug.

Generic drug makers such as Teva, Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd and Mylan Inc have already launched prescription versions of Allegra.

Shares of Allegan, Michigan-based Perrigo were up 2 percent at $87.40 on Wednesday afternoon on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Kavyanjali Kaushik in Bangalore; Editing by Maju Samuel)
