David Long Joins Dow Lohnes’ IP Litigation Practice
Experienced Patent Litigator Deepens Firm’s Intellectual Property Capabilities
Dow Lohnes PLLC today announced that David Long has joined its Intellectual Property Litigation practice as a Member of the firm. Prior to joining Dow Lohnes, Long served as a Partner in the Intellectual Property Group at Howrey, and before that as an Associate at Pillsbury Madison & Sutro LLP.
During his 10 years at Howrey, Long focused on complex patent litigation, representing clients in federal district courts, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Supreme Court and before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Throughout his career, Long has successfully litigated a wide-array of technology issues involving everything from complex electrical circuits to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), wireless communication systems, signal processing systems, memory devices, integrated circuit designs, automatic voice systems, computer software systems, manufacturing systems and medical products.
“David’s extensive experience litigating intellectual property issues, and his deep knowledge of emerging technologies, will be of great value to our many technology-focused and communication clients,” said Dow Lohnes managing partner John Byrnes. “As IP law has become ever more important, due in part to the increasing rate at which technology is evolving, David’s expertise is a welcome addition to our practice.”
The firm’s existing expertise in communications regulatory, corporate and intellectual property law, as well as its expertise in communications and IP litigation, nicely complement David’s experience in telecommunications related patent litigation. “I am excited to join Dow Lohnes,” said Long. “I think this will be an ideal platform to provide a full array of legal services to our telecommunications clients.”
Long earned a masters degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law. He also served as a law clerk at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He previously worked as an electrical engineer for more than five years in telecommunications, software design, control systems and rocket science. Additionally, Long publishes commentaries on developments in patent law and frequently lectures on patent law and developments for various associations.
He can be contacted at (202) 776-2701 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
