Gulfstream natgas pipe near full capacity-Williams Co.

NEW YORK, April 18 (Reuters) - Williams Co (WMB.N) said on Monday the Gulfstream natural gas pipeline was experiencing high line pack pressure which means gas on the line was running near its maximum capacity.

"Gulfstream Natural Gas System, L.L.C.'s line pack is currently at the high end of Gulfstream's range of acceptable operating levels," the company said in a posting on its website.

The 745-mile pipeline is half owned by Spectra Energy (SE.N) and half by Williams, and is operated by Williams.

It can carry up to 1.26 billion cubic feet of natural gas from the Gulf of Mexico region to Florida -- enough to produce electricity for 4.5 million homes, according to Spectra's web site.

The U.S. Southeast is expecting hot weather this week, forecasters said, boosting gas demand for air conditioning.

Supply coming out of the Gulf region is on the rise.

In its most recent weekly natural gas report, the U.S. Energy Information Administration showed that stockpiles of natural gas at the Gulf are nearly 20 percent greater than the five-year average and 15.6 percent greater than a year ago due to high production levels.

A Williams spokesperson was not immediately available for further comment. (Reporting by Jeanine Prezioso; editing by Jim Marshall)
