April 28 (Reuters) - Amdocs Ltd , a maker of phone-billing and customer-management software, posted second-quarter results above market estimates, helped by increase in North America revenue, and forecast strong third-quarter.

The company, which competes with Comverse Technology and Convergys Corp , forecast third-quarter earnings of $0.57-$0.63 per share, on revenue of $790-$805 million.

Analysts on an average were expecting third-quarter earnings at 59 cents a share on revenue of $790.8 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S

The company's January-March net income increased to $94.1 million, or 50 cents per share, from $68.5 million, or 33 cents per share, last year.

Excluding special items, Amdocs earned 58 cents a share.

Revenue of the company, whose software is used by telecommunications service providers to deliver voice, data, and wireless services, rose 6 percent to $789 million. North America revenue increased 4.5 percent to $598 million

Analyst on an average were expecting earnings 57 cents a share on revenue of $781.8 million.
