HONG KONG May 3 (Reuters) - Bank of America Merrill Lynch has hired former Goldman Sachs Group Inc executive Ryan Holsheimer as head of equity execution services in Asia-Pacific, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch spokesman Mark Tsang confirmed the contents of the memo to Reuters.

Ryan would oversee sales trading across execution services platforms including single shares, portfolios, futures and electronic execution, the memo said.

Ryan, who has spent about a decade at Goldman Sachs, was head of pan-Asian execution services at the Wall Street bank. Prior to that, he worked at BofA Merrill Lynch in Sydney, Hong Kong and Tokyo between 1996 and 2001.

Ryan joins former Goldman Sachs executives Joe Lee, Peter MacDonald and Gene Reilly who have been hired by Bank of America Merrill Lynch as part of a plan to strengthen its equity platform in the region. (Reporting by Nishant Kumar; Editing by Chris Lewis)
