WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama will meet with Senate Democrats on Wednesday and Senate Republicans on Thursday on issues including the deficit, White House spokesman Jay Carney said on Monday.

Obama will meet with the Senate Democratic and Republican caucuses at the White House "to talk about the range of important issues on the legislative agenda, including the need to adopt a balanced approach in confronting the nation's long-term deficit challenges," Carney said at a White House news briefing.

He said Obama plans to meet with the House of Representatives' Democratic and Republican caucuses at the White House for similar discussions within the next few weeks, he said.

Obama and congressional leaders are wrangling over spending for the next fiscal year, cutting the $1.4 trillion U.S. deficit and raising the U.S. debt limit.

Does anybody believe this president is serious on deficit reform after proposing a $3.7 trillion budget this year? This is about politics, not concern for doing what is right for our nation.

Reuters, did you double check the article ? Reporting cutting $ 1.4 trillion and raising the debt limit in one sentence. Maybe a little contra-dictionary ? Humor is, the sentence probably reflects the Washington reality these days :-).
The article also starts with something funny in what Mr. Obama says: Cutting $ 1.4 trillion in a balanced way. Well, one can’t cut $ 1.4 trillion in a balanced way. Not on a $ 3 trillion government budget. This is definitely going to an interesting meeting.

What a hypocrite. Obama proposed the two biggest budgets of all time…he has no concern about fixing this problem. This man and his followers in Washington are only about politics. Don’t drink the KoolAide of more spending equals reduced debt…debt that we must pay in inflation and higher taxes. How tragic!
