Australia dollar up after trade surplus beats forecast

SYDNEY May 10 (Reuters) - The Australian dollar gained 20 pips to $1.0789 after trade data showed a surplus of A$1.74 billion in March, far above expectations for a surplus of $438 million. [ID:nS9E7G3032] The Aussie briefly pushed above $1.0800 in early trade following a commodity rally overnight. It peaked to a fresh 29-year high of $1.1012 last week.
