SANTIAGO | Wed May 18, 2011 4:13pm EDT

SANTIAGO May 18 (Reuters) - Jailed IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn should step down, Chile's Central Bank President Jose De Gregorio told the Financial Times in an interview published on the paper's website on Wednesday.

Pressure has mounted for the fund's managing director Strauss-Kahn to quit after his arrest and detention in a New York jail on charges he attempted to rape a hotel maid.

"I think he should resign," De Gregorio was quoted as saying by the paper. (Reporting by Antonio de la Jara)
