Venezuela sees minimal impact from U.S. sanctions
CARACAS |
CARACAS May 24 (Reuters) - Venezuela's state oil company PDVSA expects little or no commercial impact from U.S. sanctions imposed on Tuesday due to trade with Iran, a source at the company said.
The source also told Reuters the move appeared to be primarily political, intended by the government of U.S. President Barack Obama to appease Senate critics of Venezuela's socialist leader Hugo Chavez.
