White House threatens veto over 2nd engine for F-35
WASHINGTON |
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama's top advisors would urge him to veto any military spending bill that seeks to revive an alternate engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter that was being developed by General Electric Co and Rolls-Royce Group Plc, the White House said Tuesday.
The engine being used in early production models is built by Pratt & Whitney, a unit of United Technologies Corp.
The White House also threatened to veto the fiscal 2012 Defense Authorization bill, due to be debated in the House of Representatives this week, over sections that it said would "set onerous conditions" on implementing the new START nuclear arms reduction treaty with Russia.

While we are cutting pork lets look at subsidies like ethanol to first time home buyers. Then lets look at tax dedications and credits. If we eliminate all of these and go to a flat tax or fair tax we could put a dent in our debt. I am at the AMT now so I wont be effected as you all will be soon. I pay a flat 28% of my income with no dedications.
