Mississippi River flood shuts US coal export dock

HOUSTON | Tue May 24, 2011 1:52pm EDT

HOUSTON May 24 (Reuters) - Mississippi River flooding has forced temporary closure of Canadian National's (CNR.TO) IC Rail Marine Terminal coal dock near New Orleans, the terminal president said Tuesday.

The force majeure declaration May 15 has delayed two cargoes totaling about 150,000 short tons of coal headed for the United Kingdom, IC Rail Marine President Bruce Conti said.

The terminal hopes to reopen the dock about June 1 and ship delayed cargoes after that, Conti said. (Reporting by Bruce Nichols; Editing by David Gregorio)
