Australia's Archer buys fast food chain for A$450 mln-paper

SYDNEY, June 14 (Reuters) - Australian private equity firm Archer Capital purchased Quick Service Restaurant Holdings, the biggest Australian-owned fast food operator, for A$450 million ($474 million), the Australian newspaper said on Tuesday.

The purchase, from Quadrant Private Equity, extends Archer's spending spree to over A$1 billion since the start of last month, the paper added.

Quadrant was considering floating Quick Service around October or November but chose the private equity sale as current market conditions are "very difficult", managing director Chris Hadley told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Quick Service operates 620 Red Rooster, Oporto and Chicken Treat restaurants in Australia. ($1 = 0.949 Australian Dollars) (Reporting by Balazs Koranyi)
