BERLIN, June 17 (Reuters) - French President Nicolas Sarkozy said on Friday that France and Germany agreed to push for tougher sanctions against Syria.

"France, hand-in-hand with Germany, calls for tougher sanctions against Syrian authorities who are conducting intolerable and unacceptable actions and repression against the (Syrian) population," he told a news conference after talks in Berlin with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
