Humbug Telecom Labs Offers Community Approach to Telecom Fraud Fighting

RAMAT HASHARON, ISRAEL, Jun 21 (MARKET WIRE) --
Humbug Telecom Labs provider of carrier-class fraud prevention, detection
and telecom analytics for any size business, today announced the release
of their Community blacklist. Telecom fraud is a very real problem that
according to the Communications Fraud Control Association (CFCA) costs
businesses $80 billion each year.
"Fraud happens everywhere from small law firms, accounting offices, even
the Department of Homeland Security. Attacks can quickly spread to
multiple PBXs on the same network," said Yaniv Rofe, CEO of Humbug
Telecom Labs. "Humbug's fraud prevention and detection solution stops
that from occurring. It's why leading vendors are beginning to bundle in
fraud protection services into existing PBXs."
Yesterday's telecom fraud world was a fragmented environment -- with each
carrier, service provider and even small business fighting alone against
invading hackers, abusers, and telecom fraudsters (aka phreakers).
Released into public beta, Humbug's Community Blacklist is dramatically
changing the landscape, and is our first big step towards creating a true
collaborative environment against the global problem of telecom fraud.
When enabled, the blacklist alert will allow users to create their own
private blacklist, as well as make use of the community blacklist which
contains over 55,000 abusive/fraudulent numbers submitted by community
members, telecom fraud managers, law enforcement agencies and other
industry sources such as the CFCA.
Enabling the community blacklist in your Humbug account gives you
immediate protection from tens of thousands of blacklisted numbers, a
list which is constantly being improved and fine-tuned for the benefit of
everyone connected. This alert joins a host of additional easily
configured alerts that provide organizations with a previously
unavailable blanket of protection against costly telecom fraud.
Organizations that have been a target of telecom fraud, PBX hacking, toll
fraud, and others are asked to contact us and send the details of the
attack for our investigation and inclusion in the community-based alerts
for others to benefit.
