UPDATE 1-USANA Health Sciences sees Q2 EPS, sales above Street
* Sees Q2 EPS at or above $0.85
* Sees Q2 sales of more than $147 mln (Follows alerts)
June 29 (Reuters) - USANA Health Sciences Inc forecast second quarter earnings above Wall Street's expectations, helped by a more gradual integration of China's BabyCare Ltd acquired last year, sending the health-products maker's shares up 16 percent after the bell.
For the second quarter, the company which makes nutritional, personal care and weight management products expects earnings of 85 cents a share or more.
Earnings for the quarter will benefit by about 6 cents a share due to the recapture of unvested equity compensation expense related to the departure of certain executives from the company, USANA said in a statement.
The company, which acquired the BabyCare business in August last year, also expects second quarter sales to exceed $147 million.
Analysts on average were expecting the company to earn 71 cents a share on sales of $134.9 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Shares of the company were up nearly 16 percent at $33.51 in extended trade. They closed at $28.99 on Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Abhishek Takle in Bangalore; Editing by Prem Udayabhanu)
