ZEELAND, MI, Jul 15 (MARKET WIRE) --
Gentex Corporation (NASDAQ: GNTX), the Zeeland, Michigan-based
manufacturer of automatic-dimming rearview mirrors and camera-based
driver-assist systems for the automotive industry, commercial fire
protection products and dimmable aircraft windows, was recently
recognized by Chrysler Group LLC as one of only 11 suppliers to win an
award for outstanding performance. Gentex received the award at
Chrysler's annual supplier meeting and awards ceremony in Detroit. The
event was the first such ceremony since Chrysler Group and Fiat formed a
strategic global alliance in 2009.
According to Dan Knott, Chrysler Group Senior Vice President of
Purchasing and Supplier Quality, the 11 companies recognized exemplify
top-level supplier performance. "Chrysler introduced 16 new or
significantly refreshed vehicles this year, and Gentex is proud to have
been a part of that success," stated Enoch Jen, Gentex Senior Vice
President. "Superior quality is one of our primary goals and to have our
employee efforts in this area be recognized is important to us. We share
this award with our 3,400 Gentex associates."
The award was based on an evaluation of the Company's performance in
areas including quality, delivery, cost, warranty and partnership. In
addition to interior and exterior auto-dimming mirrors, select Chrysler
vehicles offer advanced features including Gentex's SmartBeam(R) High
Beam Assist and Rear Camera Display Mirrors.
Founded in 1974, Gentex Corporation is the leading supplier of
automatic-dimming rearview mirrors and camera-based driver-assist systems
to the global automotive industry. The Company also provides commercial
smoke alarms and signaling devices to the North American fire protection
market, as well as dimmable aircraft windows for the commercial, business
and general aviation markets. Based in Zeeland, Michigan, the
international Company develops, manufactures and markets interior and
exterior automatic-dimming automotive rearview mirrors that utilize
proprietary electrochromic technology to dim in proportion to the amount
of headlight glare from trailing vehicle headlamps. More than half of the
Company's interior mirrors are sold with advanced electronic features,
and more than 98 percent of the Company's net sales are derived from the
sale of auto-dimming mirrors to every major automaker in the world.
