Qatar closes Syria embassy after assaults-diplomats

AMMAN, July 18 (Reuters) - Qatar has pulled out its ambassador from Syria and closed its embassy after attacks on the compound by militiamen loyal to President Bashar al-Assad, diplomats in the Syrian capital told Reuters on Monday.
The embassy in the Abu Rummaneh neighbourhood of Damascus closed last week when it was assaulted twice, they said. (Reporting by Khaled Yacoub Oweis)
