July 25 (Reuters) - The following corporate finance-related stories were reported by media on Monday and over the weekend:
* U.S. mutual fund manger T Rowe Price is to invest up to £55m in microblogging site Twitter, the Daily Telegraph said in its online edition.
* Moonpig.com, an online retailer of personalised greetings cards, has been acquired by the digital photo service PhotoBox in a £120m deal that the companies hope will build scale in an increasingly hot market, the Financial Times reported in its online edition.
* TD Ameritrade Holding's directors plan to discuss at a meeting on Tuesday the possibility of trying to buy rival online brokerage E*Trade Financial Corp , the Wall Street Journal said, citing people familiar with the matter.
* South Africa is not seeking to overturn competition regulators' approval of Wal-Mart buying control of local retailer Massmart , but wants tougher conditions for the deal, the Business Day newspaper reported.
* Volkswagen AG (VOWG_p.DE) has reached agreement with partner FAW Group to increase its holding in their car venture to 49 percent from 40 percent, the Chinese Business News said.
* United Technologies Corp is considering a partial sale or other strategic option for its rocket engine business, the Wall Street Journal said, citing a company executive.
* The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) is planning to buy $500 million worth of office properties in London and Paris as part of a drive to increase its investment in Europe, the Times reported without citing sources.
* China International Capital Corp (CICC) is to become the country's first investment bank to manage a trust company, with a new venture likely to launch this week, the Financial Times reported citing a person familiar with the matter.
* Virgin Money has not made a formal bid for 630 Lloyds Banking Group branches and now sees nationalised bank Northern Rock as a more realistic purchase option, the Financial Times said.
* Bank of China is a leading contender in the race to acquire the aircraft leasing business being sold by Royal Bank of Scotland , the Sunday Times reported without citing sources.
