Taiwan stocks fall; Formosa group hit after plant fire
TAIPEI, July 27 (Reuters) - Taiwan stocks fell 0.22 percent on Wednesday, with Formosa Petrochemical lower after a small fire damaged a power transmission network at the Mailiao complex operated by parent Formosa Plastics Group.
The main TAIEX index opened down 19.06 points at 8,775.18, retreating from a 1.28 percent rally in prior session.
Formosa Petrochemical shed 1.4 percent and Formosa Plastics lost 1.8 percent. Group company Nan Ya Plastics fell 3 percent
The Taiwan dollar stood at T$28.761, up slightly from yesterday's close.
