WASHINGTON, July 31 (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid said on Sunday he was "cautiously optimistic" that Congress can reach a deal to raise the debt ceiling, but several issues still must be settled.

"We are cautiously optimistic. There are a number of issues that need to be resolved," Reid said in remarks on the Senate floor.
