PRISTINA Aug 2 (Reuters) - The NATO force in Kosovo said on Tuesday it had requested additional troops be sent to the country after an escalation of violence last week.

"We are asking for troops from outside Kosovo; I cannot say the numbers, but it will be one battalion," said Dieter Wichter, a spokesman for NATO's Kosovo Security Force, KFOR.
