CHICAGO (Reuters) - Authorities charged a neighbor of Breeann Rodriguez, a Missouri toddler who disappeared last week, with first-degree murder on Saturday.

The Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney accused Shawn Morgan, 43, of Senath, Missouri, of suffocating the three-year-old girl who went missing while she was riding her bicycle last Saturday near her home.

In addition to first-degree murder, Morgan is charged with armed criminal action and tampering with physical evidence.

Officers are still searching for Rodriguez's body, a statement said.

The small town of Senath is located about 90 miles north of Memphis, Tennessee.

This is getting out of control. We’re hearing about kids getting murdered DAILY by these sex offenders. We need to lock them up for good. Also, why is a 3 year old playing outside WITHOUT supervision???

I think he is lying of thinks where he has her or what he might have her inside of would suffocate her but he could be wrong. If he admitted to suffocating her then he wouldn’t have any problem taking police to her body. But he hasn’t done that, probably because he is either lying, or doesn’t want to implicate someone else, or he doesn’t want anyone to see what else he did to her. They should continue to look for this little girl and the white van also. She might be in inside something in the white van or vehicle and she might still be alive if they can get to her. Indicating to the public they have their man, and acting like it is open and shut, makes people less inclined to put the effort into looking for her. Either way I hope they find her because until she is found I wouldn’t believe anything this guy they have in custody would have to say.
