Spencer Ogden opens Office in Houston

Spencer Ogden, the recruiter of choice for the energy sector, today announces the official opening of its new office in Houston, Texas. Based in the city’s ‘Energy Corridor’, the new office will recruit for the local oil and gas industry as well as the developing renewables and nuclear markets, and will be headed by Edward Ogden, who has been with the agency since its launch in January 2010.

The new office’s management team is keen to use local knowledge and talent in order to service existing requirements and build new relationships with energy companies in Houston. Five new recruiters from the Houston area have already been hired through the Spencer Ogden Graduate Academy scheme, which involves fully-immersive training and career development opportunities.

Director Ed Ogden comments: “The Houston office is to be an extension of Spencer Ogden London and we intend to build on the impressive growth there to deliver an all-encompassing, consultative offering in energy recruitment to the US. Houston is the energy capital of the world – the industry touches everyone’s lives in one way or another, so it’s a really exciting place to be. We plan to grow the team quickly, and aim to have 20 staff by the end of 2011, most of which will be employed from the local area.”

Ed Ogden adds: “We will initially be focusing on the oil and gas sectors for which Texas is famous, but we eventually plan to expand across the US, with offices in San Francisco, where renewable energy is really taking off, and New York, which is a major hub for energy trading and finance.”

Spencer Ogden has grown rapidly since its launch in January 2010; it turned over £4.2m in its first year and on track for in excess of £12m in its second year. The company now employs 75 people across its London headquarters, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Qatar and Houston offices working in Oil & Gas, Renewables, Power, Nuclear, Energy Trading and Energy Finance.
