WASHINGTON Aug 18 (Reuters) - The United States will provide North Korea with up to $900,000 in emergency flood assistance, the U.S. State Department said on Thursday.

"This emergency relief demonstrates our continuing concern for the well-being of the North Korean people," the State Department said in a statement, adding that it has been a longstanding U.S. position that the provision of humanitarian assistance is separate from political and security concerns.
