India's food inflation at 9.80 pct y/y as at Aug 13-govt

NEW DELHI Aug 25 (Reuters) - India's food price index rose 9.80 percent and the fuel price index climbed 13.13 percent in the year to Aug. 13, government data on Thursday showed.
In the previous week, annual food and fuel inflation stood at 9.03 percent and 13.13 percent respectively.
The primary articles index was up 12.40 percent, compared with an annual rise of 11.64 percent a week earlier.
India's central bank has raised interest rates 11 times since March 2010 to tame headline inflation , which stood at 9.22 percent in July.
The Reserve Bank of India continues to expect inflation to start easing by November-December and was watching for signs of moderation in demand, Deputy Governor Subir Gokarn said on Tuesday.
A top policy adviser had said last week that India's headline inflation was likely to stay at around 9-10 percent until December. (Reporting by Manoj Kumar; editing by Malini Menon)
