WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama will address a joint session of Congress on September 8 instead of September 7 to unveil proposals to create new jobs, bowing to objections from Republicans, the White House said on Wednesday.

Obama had requested originally to address Congress on the same night as Republican presidential candidates are holding a televised debate.

"The president is focused on the urgent need to create jobs and grow our economy, so he welcomes the opportunity to address a joint session of Congress on Thursday, September 8th and challenge our nation's leaders to start focusing 100% of their attention on doing whatever they can to help the American people," White House spokesman Jay Carney said in a statement.

What a spoiled child, and a schemer at that!

This President is sure a piece of cake. he and his henchmen knew months ago that the GOP debate was scheduled for Sep. 7, yet they intentionally decided to challenge the Republicans.

Also an address to the joint Congress is held only for a State of the Union address, a declaration of war, or an emergency. His “plan” is no emergency speech, or he’d have not waited until after his vacation.

I am so happy Americans have a strong Republican Speaker of the House who will stand up against this President who likes to give speeches and plays the big political games. The President is so out of touch going on his expensive vacation and then coming back to give a speech? Why has he waited so long to do anything about jobs? Why does he have to go on TV except that he wants to use the event as a campaign speech. Sorry Obama, you have failed Americans over and over.

they come off vacation, attack the president, then goi campaigning for an election that is over a year away. When do they work. The president works his butt off, congress scuttles everthing he tries to do. Congress does nothing to help people.
