BELLEVUE, WA, Sep 30 (MARKET WIRE) --
Esterline Corporation (www.esterline.com) (NYSE: ESL), a leading
specialty manufacturer serving the aerospace and defense markets, today
announced that it has selected Phil Bowker to serve as Platform President
of the company's Engineered Materials business platform, consisting of
six global manufacturing operations in Mexico, the United Kingdom, and
the U.S.
Bowker most recently served as Vice President of Global Sales and
Marketing for the Engineered Materials platform where he was responsible
for all sales and marketing functions including business development,
strategic planning, and customer and program development.
Esterline CEO Brad Lawrence said, "Phil works continuously on process
enhancement. He introduced technology road mapping, order profitability
improvements, and product line management at Engineered Materials, which
have all helped our bottom line through intelligent planning and
operational excellence. That's what Esterline is all about and Phil
understands our philosophy perfectly."
Bowker has also served as Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Programs
with Esterline's Advanced Sensors group of companies based in the UK. He
worked in a variety of leadership roles where he re-engineered processes
across three international sites, designed and implemented the transition
to a dedicated after-market service organization (Esterline Sensors
Services) and led the creation and development of the business platform's
first Tier One integration efforts with Rolls-Royce and Safran.
Bowker first came to Esterline in 1999 through its acquisition of former
subsidiary Muirhead, where he led the sales and engineering departments
and improved their efficiencies. He also has prior sales experience with
Kulite in the UK and northern Europe, totaling 23 years of industry
expertise. He has a bachelors of science degree from Leeds University in
the UK and a diploma in instrumentation from the University of
Manchester.
Bowker will be based at the platform's Brea, California location and
succeeds longtime Esterline leader Rick Gentle, who is semi-retiring
after 18 years with Esterline. Gentle will, however, remain Esterline's
President of China Business Development.
