Johnny Depp Apologizes for Vanity Fair Rape Remarks
Johnny Depp is a wiz at crafting wacky film characters, but his metaphors could use some work.
The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star apologized Wednesday for his questionable decision to compare photo shoots to rape in an interview with Vanity Fair.
"I am truly sorry for offending anyone in any way. I never meant to. It was a poor choice of words on my part in an effort to explain a feeling," Depp said in a statement. "I understand there is no comparison and I am very regretful. In an effort to correct my lack of judgment, please accept my heartfelt apology."

In an online excerpt from a Vanity Fair cover story that appeared earlier this week, Depp said posing for photos made him very uncomfortable.
'You just feel like you're being raped somehow,' he said. 'Raped... It feels like a kind of weird... just weird, man.'
Katherine Hull, a spokesperson for Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN), told Fox: "While photos may feel at times intrusive, being photographed in no way compares to rape — a violent crime which affects another American every two minutes,”
Depp was busy promoting his long-delayed Hunter S. Thompson adaptation "The Rum Diary," which hits theaters on Oct. 28.
Though he presumably hates the media blitzes that accompany each film's release, Depp went on to say that he has made his peace with the big paychecks.
Depp reportedly made $100 million last year.
“Basically, if they’re going to pay me the stupid money right now, I’m going to take it,” Depp told Vanity Fair. “I have to. I mean, it’s not for me. Do you know what I mean? At this point, it’s for my kids. It’s ridiculous, yeah, yeah. But ultimately is it for me? No. No. It’s for the kids.”Related Articles: Nancy Grace Provides 'DWTS' Season's First Nip-Slip ...
