NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wealth managers prefer using Apple products for business rather than Research in Motion's BlackBerry devices, a survey by Aite Group showed on Thursday.

Of 402 financial advisers polled, 45 percent said they would choose an Apple iPhone or iPad, while 14 percent would pick a BlackBerry.

The research firm, which focuses on financial services, conducted the survey in March, well before the recent RIM outage which left large pockets of BlackBerry users around the world without access to email and other functions.

The study found that using mobile devices was increasingly important to advisers, many of whom service clients with hand-held devices who have access to online brokerage services.

Nearly half the advisers surveyed said having access to business applications was an "important" or "very important" part of their technology strategy for 2011.

Would you rather a financial advisor make I.T. decisions for your company or someone with experience and knowledge in the I.T. field?

If you’re not concerned with company security or confidential info flying through the airwaves then go pick up some trendy toys and follow the financial advisors advice (which happens to be the same as 14 year old teenagers). If you’re concerned about security and confidentiality then go with RIM and listen to an I.T. professional.

Funny how people with no IT experience are driving I.T. company policies now, no wonder so many western companies are struggling, guess hackers are pleased with this, makes their jobs easier.

Fixed it for you.

The sad part is that the functionality of the device matters little to those who buy these iDevices. The impression of wealth is far more important, as is the “cool” factor … because it’s all about appearances … the appearance of being cool … the appearance of being wealthy … the appearance of providing value.

Oh, well. Whaddyagonnado? But these polls are silly. Of COURSE they prefer the shiny new object over the dark commoner tool. Why even do a poll like this?
