VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Benedict plans to visit Mexico and Cuba next year, the Vatican said on Thursday.

The Vatican spokesman said the trip to the two Latin American countries would likely take place in the spring. It will be his first visit as pope to Cuba and Mexico.
