Michelle Obama Joins Twitter (ish)
Update 10:15 a.m. PT: After Michelle Obama's staffers started her Twitter account and took care of her first couple tweets, the first lady has published her first one, acknowledging all the attention the account has already gotten:
"Hi, everyone, and thanks for the warm welcome. Look forward to staying in touch with you here. –mo"
The first lady is on Twitter, but just how much of Michelle Obama's account will be hers is unclear.
"We're excited today to launch @michelleobama as a new way for you to connect with First Lady Michelle Obama and the President's campaign," the account began. If the plural "we" weren't enough of an indication, staffers then clarified that the account "will be managed by the campaign staff" and that any tweets from Obama will be signed "-mo."
Thus, it was even less surprising that President Barack Obama's staffers -- and not the President -- made the introduction.

"We're excited today to launch @michelleobama as a new way for you to connect with First Lady Michelle Obama and the President's campaign," they wrote.
Both of those posts indicate the first lady's commitment to play a major role in the upcoming campaign, something that has been discussed amidst the hubbub surrounding Jodi Kantor's new book, "The Obamas."
Kantor wrote that Obama initially avoided some of the standard political pageantry but that she has now decided to exert as much energy as possible to getting her husband reelected. The Obamas have disputed claims in the book.
In just a few hours, Obama already has more than 50,000 followers. And that's without any of her own tweets.Related Articles: Michelle Obama Gets 'The Simpsons' Treatment (Video) Jodi Kantor's 'The Obamas' Book Sparks Controversy, White House Rebuttal
