Based in Milwaukee, WI, Extendicare Health Services (EHSI) operates 180
senior care facilities in the United States with approximately 17,700
beds. EHSI offers a continuum of health care services, including nursing
care, assisted living and related medical specialty services, such as
subacute care and rehabilitative therapy on an inpatient and outpatient
basis. EHSI also applies its operating expertise, extensive resources and
economies of scale to provide purchasing, management, and consulting
services to third-party providers.
With nearly two terabytes of data, EHSI needed a scalable information
management solution capable of handling both archiving and eDiscovery.
Together, Enterprise Vault and the Clearwell eDiscovery Platform provide
a trusted archiving solution with advanced eDiscovery capabilities to
rapidly and accurately filter, process, search and analyze data.
"Using two of the best products on the market which are now owned by the
same company is much more efficient because it streamlines the entire
eDiscovery process from beginning to end," said Donna Maassen, director
of compliance at Extendicare, Inc. "Archiving and processing are the two
biggest areas of opportunity for cost savings. Mastering them with
Enterprise Vault and the Clearwell eDiscovery Platform can have an impact
on budget in terms of time, resources and speed of results."
Purpose-built to support the iterative nature of real-world eDiscovery,
Symantec's Clearwell eDiscovery Platform is trusted by hundreds of the
world's leading corporations, government agencies, and law firms to
respond to litigation in a timely and cost-effective manner. The platform
provides a complete electronic discovery litigation solution which solves
the most pressing challenges of litigation today, streamlining the entire
eDiscovery lifecycle with a single, easy-to-use application that reduces
the time, cost, and complexity of eDiscovery.
"Extendicare represents a significant milestone as they are one of many
customers we see moving towards the integrated Enterprise Vault/Clearwell
solution," said Kurt Leafstrand, director of product management, Symantec
Corp. "The popularity of the Clearwell eDiscovery Platform among the
legal community, coupled with Symantec's long-standing knowledge of IT
users, creates a powerful and optimized offering, because eDiscovery is
one of the few business processes that involve both groups in an
organization. It's rewarding to see customers like Extendicare benefit
from that approach."
