BEIJING, April 9 - China on Monday urged the Syrian government and opposition groups to abide by pledges for a ceasefire in the year-old conflict.

Beijing's appeal was issued after Syrian President Bashar al_Assad's demand for written guarantees from his opponents threw doubt on the prospects for a ceasefire brokered by international envoy Kofi Annan taking hold.

"China urges the Syrian government and opposition groups to seize the current critical moment to abide by cease fire and troop withdrawal promises, cooperate with special envoy Annan's mediation efforts to alleviate the current tense situation and facilitate humanitarian assistance, and promote a political solution to the conflict in Syria," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin told a news briefing.

Hi all,
Is a very sad time in this world, but soon, everyone will realize that fighting Assad will be the only way. To kill him, like Gadaffi, will come in time. The world has lost it’s courage and is too scared of what Russia will do. Every one is so scared of the maybe terrorists, but no one seems to realize doing nothing will do exactly that promote the extremists. There is no other way, when will this world wake up to all the dictators, the crucify their own people. The people of Syria need help from the world, not empty talk as is happening. To me it would seem the Syrian’s need fighters with expert knowledge and good weapons. This is the only thing Assad and his type understand, like Gadaffi, brutallity is how they think, so give it back to them, make them taste what they give out. Bullies in this world will only ever understand aggresion, give them a hidding, they will never forget and you loose the bully. Give a bully a good hiding and he’ll scream in pain and cry all the way home, Assad is no different, hurt hime and see him cry…. he is just an arsole in power, as most of them are.
