The Hoffman Agency Hires Steve Burkhart, Former Edelman Executive, as GM of North America
The Hoffman Agency has appointed Steve Burkhart as general manager of North America. He will be responsible for operations in Hoffman's North American region, including client services, client strategy, new business, financial management and staff development.
Prior to joining Hoffman, Burkhart was a senior executive for two global PR firms, Weber Shandwick and Edelman. He was a senior executive in Edelman's Seattle office for several years, leading B2B and consumer tech accounts, including enterprise software, broadband, wireless, display technologies, professional and financial services.
He later co-founded the Edelman office in Portland and helped it grow rapidly from approximately three employees to 30 employees in three years.
Burkhart joined Weber Shandwick in 2007 and soon became general manager of the Portland office. He led several Microsoft accounts and was the principal author of a storytelling curriculum that was taught to Microsoft executives and PR professionals around the world, so his expertise is a natural for the Agency’s storytelling workshops. He was also a senior leader on Weber Shandwick's clean technology team and led accounts in green IT, engineering, green building and biofuels while managing teams in Portland, San Francisco, Seattle and New York.
Prior to starting his PR career, Burkhart was a news editor and columnist for two newspapers in the Northwest.
“I worked for several months with Steve as a consultant before hiring him as GM,” said Lou Hoffman, CEO of The Hoffman Agency. “More than a can-do attitude, he delivers a can-do better mentality that will benefit all of our clients.”
The Hoffman Agency advises companies on applying communications to build brands and sell products. By applying storytelling techniques to client campaigns, the Agency is particularly strong in thought leadership work. The firm’s operation extends across Asia Pacific, Europe and the United States.
