Dollar extends gains vs yen to hit session high

NEW YORK May 24 (Reuters) - The U.S. dollar on Thursday extended earlier gains against the Japanese yen to hit a session high.
The dollar hit a high of 79.56 and last traded at 79.54, up 0.1 percent on the day, according to Reuters data.
