Coal miner Alpha to cut Kentucky mine production

June 8 (Reuters) - Coal miner Alpha Natural Resources Inc said on Friday it will stop mining at four mines in Kentucky because of market pressures that make production from the mines uneconomic.

It said production cuts will reduce shipments of thermal coal used for power generation by 2 million tons this year and 4 million tons in 2013.
