CHARLESTON, S.C., June 18, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ohio mother of seven Connie Lunsford is counting down the days until she will pack her bags and head to Chicago thanks to Gildan's Mom's Grand Slam Getaway Sweepstakes.

Gildan hosted its Mom's Grand Slam Getaway Sweepstakes in conjunction with Mother's Day to celebrate its national sponsorship of Triple-A Baseball and thank busy moms for all they do. Through an easy online entry process that ran April 5 through May 21, 2012, thousands entered from around the United States. At the conclusion of the sweepstakes, Connie Lunsford from Sidney, Ohio was randomly selected as the lucky winner.

Having never before entered a sweepstakes, Connie and her sister-in-law each decided to register just for the fun of it. On May 24, Connie received the call notifying her that from the thousands of entries received, she was the grand prize winner.

Winning the Grand Prize meant Connie will receive a weekend trip for two complete with airfare and hotel to a great American city of her choice among New York, Chicago, Los Angeles or Miami, plus $3000 to indulge in the city's great spas, shopping, dining and nightlife. She has chosen Chicago and elected to include her sister-in-law.

"I cannot thank Gildan enough! I just finished planning my youngest son's high school graduation party, so I'm ready for a break," said Connie. "When I travel it usually revolves around my kids, their activities and competitions. It's been a long while since I've had a trip just for me. I've always wanted to experience Chicago. So come September, I'm headed to the Windy City where I plan to indulge and Facebook the entire adventure!"

"Moms like Connie are exactly why we hosted the sweepstakes, rewarding moms that always take care of their home team, making sure they win in the game of life," said Rob Packard, Vice-President, Marketing and Merchandising, Gildan Branded Apparel. "As one of the world's largest suppliers of branded t-shirts, activewear, underwear and socks, we have always supported active families. This year, we became a national sponsor of Triple-A Baseball, so it gave us a great opportunity to create the Mom's Grand Slam Getaway Sweepstakes to pay homage to this great American tradition while showing moms we recognize all that they do."
