Speaker Boehner renews vow to try to repeal Obama health law

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner on Thursday renewed his vow to try to repeal President Barack Obama's healthcare law after a divided Supreme Court key parts of it.

"Today's ruling underscores the urgency of repealing this harmful law in its entirety," Boehner said in a statement just minutes after the court released its ruling. Boehner's Republican-led House will likely vote to repeal the measure, but Obama's fellow Democrats in the Senate are certain to block it.

Boehner will waste effort and money to try to repeal this much-needed health plan. He can do it on his own time and dime. I do not want my tax money going into such a losing proposition. If he does not try it, I will send him a bottle of good bourbon.

Republicans are on a losing game here. They were wrong about it being a violation of the constitution, so they can’t use that as an excuse, and Obamacare is popular. If they get all arringant and “do as we say” they will allienate a lot of people. If they don’t, they will alinate their base of fringe-lunatics.

They gambled, lost, and will now pay the price.
