PNC Bank and Harris Teeter Meet at Cardtronics
HOUSTON, July 30, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cardtronics today announced—as part of a newly expanded ATM branding relationship established in 2005—PNC Bank will brand Cardtronics' portfolio of Harris Teeter-located ATMs, delivering expanded surcharge-free ATM access to PNC Bank customers in the Southeastern United States, the bank's newest territory, and beyond. PNC Bank is a member of The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. (NYSE:PNC) and one of the nation's largest diversified financial services organizations. Harris Teeter operates a regional chain of supermarkets, with its base of operations in North Carolina. Cardtronics, Inc. (Nasdaq:CATM) is the world's largest retail ATM owner.
In 2011, Harris Teeter named Cardtronics its ATM services provider, with plans to expand in-store ATM availability and develop a consistent ATM experience for its customers. Less than a year later, Cardtronics has delivered on both expectations, with PNC Bank set to brand 191 Cardtronics-owned, Harris Teeter-located ATMs. By Labor Day, those PNC-branded ATMs will provide PNC Bank customers with convenient, surcharge-free access to cash in Harris Teeter stores located in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Delaware, Georgia and Florida.
"PNC is always looking for innovative ways to make banking easier and more convenient for our customers, and these Cardtronics ATMs located in 191 Harris Teeter grocery stores are a great way to expand our services throughout North Carolina and beyond," said Jim Burzotta, retail banking executive for PNC's southeast region.
Inclusive of the Harris Teeter locations, PNC Bank's ATM branding relationship with Cardtronics now covers more than 585 ATMs in eight states plus Washington, D.C., with the cash machines found in some of America's most well-known grocery, gasoline-convenience and pharmacy stores.
"That Harris Teeter has consolidated ATM services with us, and that PNC Bank has branded hundreds of Cardtronics-owned and -operated ATMs, speaks volumes about Cardtronics' ability to provide safe and reliable ATM services, secure the best retail ATM placements and bring together the customer bases of two premium American brands," said Rick Updyke, president, U.S. Business Group, Cardtronics. "For confirmation that Cardtronics is focused on serving our clients, executing our business strategy and increasing value for our clients as well as our shareholders, look no further than PNC Bank and Harris Teeter."
