Money market funds fall by $3.95 billion in latest week-ICI
Aug 2 (Reuters) - The Investment Company Institute on Thursday issued the following money market mutual fund assets report:
"Total money market mutual fund assets decreased by $3.95 billion to $2.551 trillion for the week ended Wednesday, August 1, the Investment Company Institute reported today. Taxable government funds increased by $1.89 billion, taxable non-government funds decreased by $5.85 billion, and tax-exempt funds were unchanged.
Retail: Assets of retail money market funds decreased by $580 million to $882.72 billion. Taxable government money market fund assets in the retail category decreased by $280 million to $185.84 billion, taxable non-government money market fund assets decreased by $250 million to $509.68 billion, and tax-exempt fund assets decreased by $40 million to $187.20 billion.
Institutional: Assets of institutional money market funds decreased by $3.37 billion to $1.668 trillion. Among institutional funds, taxable government money market fund assets increased by $2.17 billion to $681.09 billion, taxable non-government money market fund assets decreased by $5.59 billion to $902.64 billion, and tax-exempt fund assets increased by $50 million to $84.40 billion.
ICI reports money market fund assets to the Federal Reserve each week. Revisions are due to data adjustments, reclassifications, and changes in the number of funds reporting. Weekly money market assets for the last 20 weeks are available on the ICI website."
