BloomNet® Quality Care Program Names Two New Board Members
Program strengthens its commitment to achieving 100% customer satisfaction on all florist-to-florist transactions
BloomNet, a leading floral industry business service provider and one-stop destination for innovative products and best-in-class services, has announced the addition of David Heroman and Mary Beth Harrold to the BloomNet Florist Quality Care Board.
The Board, which consists of highly successful florists representing more than 200 years of combined floral industry experience, has served a pivotal role in creating the BloomNet Florist Quality Care Program, the industry’s first quality program built by florists, for florists. The Board is also instrumental in establishing, monitoring and continually updating stringent quality and performance standards that must be maintained by BloomNet Florists with the goal of achieving total customer satisfaction on all floral wire orders.
David Heroman, a fourth generation florist with more than 25 years of experience, is the CFO of Original Heroman’s in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a family owned shop since 1878. He is a member of the Great Lakes floral group and the Society of American Florists and has served on the FTD Advisory Board, RIO Rose Advisory Board and the FTD Product Development Committee. “Knowing that we are putting together these standards of quality that will be adhered to really means a lot to the quality of the industry overall,” said David. “It’s important to me to ensure that the quality of products provided by florists from one town to another is going to be repeated and be comparable to what I do in my own shop.”
Mary Beth Harrold, owner of Papillion Flower Patch in Papillion, Nebraska, opened her shop in 1976. She is a member of the Nebraska Academy of Floral Designers and a past Designer of the Year for that organization. She has been president of the Papillion Chamber of Commerce and has served on the Chamber’s Board of Directors for 20 years. She now serves on the Board of the Midlands Community Foundation and has served as past President. Papillion Flower Patch has been awarded Small Business of the Year and The Distinguished Service Award in Papillion. “Florists need to work together to bring quality to our entire industry. If we don’t produce quality for our customers they are going to reach out to other ways to buy their flowers,” said Mary Beth.

The BloomNet Quality Care Program strives to promote, encourage and facilitate a sharing of ideas and best practices among retail florists as a way of increasing sales and profit potential for all BloomNet Professional Florists. Among the Program’s criteria are: maintaining an attractive and professional shop appearance; maintaining adequate refrigeration for fresh floral inventory; using only the highest quality fresh flowers in all orders; employing well-trained and skilled design and sales personnel; maintaining adequate same-day delivery capability; filling all incoming orders to full value; communicating with fellow florists in a timely manner; making certain that customers are totally satisfied regarding all orders; maintaining accurate records on all orders; and communicating information about all substitutions to sending florists. As part of the program, florists and their collective staff members who exhibit quality excellence can be nominated for an Award of Quality Achievement.
