Palestinian man dies of wounds after being shot by Israel troops
GAZA |
GAZA (Reuters) - A Palestinian man died on Saturday after he was shot by Israeli troops while fishing on the beach in the Gaza Strip, said Hamas officials, while an Israeli military spokeswoman said the man was shot when he approached the border fence.
Israeli army patrols deem the Gaza border area off limits because militants try to attack them by planting explosive devices or shooting at them.
Officials from Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, which rules the coastal enclave, said the 22-year-old man was fishing with his brother on Friday when he was shot.
Initially, his wounds were not thought to be life threatening.
An Israeli military spokeswoman said two men came right up to the border fence and ignored calls from troops to back away before they were shot at.
Local residents said the man, who was buried on Saturday, was known to be a fisherman.

The issue is this. You will not hear this story at all in the United States – maybe a passing blurb, but that’s it. If this were an Israeli fisherman, you’d know his life story, hear interviews with his family, and all the rest of it. This is why the Arab world hates us – our assumed neutrality on the Arab-Israeli conflict, and yet our media is very one-sided, particularly due to its ownership (just do research and you can’t disagree).
No one at all would ever disagree with your notion that Israeli children dying in their beds while asleep is horrible, it is. The issue is that the American public only gets one side – not every Arab is a terrorist, and this hair-trigger society we have will never “win” a war, it will continue its cycle. But our media has the duty to factually report the news, NOT selectively. Until that happens, the rest of the world laughs at our ignorance. And they’re laughing.

Until the Palestinians stop their violence, events like this will continue.
