Tieto Corporation PRESS RELEASE 18 October 2012 at 10.00 am EET
SBAB Bank AB is evolving its collaboration with Tieto and switching to iTap, a new, flexible service for server operation that can be briefly described as 'IT on tap'.
iTap is a cloud service that Tieto has developed for users of the IBM i-platform. The advantage of iTap is its flexibility: SBAB Bank can self-regulate its server capacity and only pays for the power used. At any time, it can increase or decrease capacity and have the new level supplied within two hours. The solution is entirely virtual and is based on the latest IBM technology, giving iTap a major advantage in environmental terms, as the hardware is used up to 20 times more efficiently than the average for a physical server.
"Thanks to Tieto, we've managed to successfully make the transition to iTap, with a level of security and availability that meets our high standards and expectations. The results are positive, and we now have a 38 percent faster monthly run than before," says Johan Sandberg, Head of IT Services & Development at SBAB Bank.
The partnership between Tieto and SBAB Bank has been in place for several years and includes a loan administration system, operation of Windows, iSeries and Unix, and database administration.
"We're proud that SBAB Bank has chosen the iTap model from Tieto, allowing it to minimise risks even further and achieve even greater cost-effectiveness while utilising its capacity in a more efficient manner. This is confirmation that SBAB Bank continues to trust us to support the development of its business and that our collaboration with IBM is very timely. An increasing number of customers in the banking and financial sectors are demanding that they only pay for the services they actually use - quite simply, to buy 'IT on tap'," says Alexandra Fürst, Head of Tieto Financial Services.
