Chile central bank head says exchange rate a worry
SANTIAGO |
SANTIAGO Oct 25 (Reuters) - Chile's exchange rate is a worry, central bank president Rodrigo Vergara said on Thursday, referring to the Chilean peso, which has gained nearly 8 percent this year against the U.S. dollar.
The peso's strength has sparked market speculation over potential intervention to curb its appreciation, though Vergara said last month an intervention in the foreign exchange market was not warranted.
