ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama called Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan to discuss how the two countries could help bring an end to escalating violence between Israel and Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, a White House official said on Saturday.

Ben Rhodes, White House deputy national security adviser, told reporters the United States "wants the same thing as the Israelis want," which is an end to rocket attacks on Israel by Palestinian militants in Gaza.

The United States is emphasizing diplomacy and "de-escalation" as keys to solving the conflict, Rhodes said.

As far as the Palestinian problem goes, obviously, and undeniably the root problem is Zionism. If the Zionist ideology had not arisen, and the European Jews moved to, and taken over, Palestine, there would be no such problem.

The solution of the Israel-Palestine problem needs to flow from world rejection of Zionist ideology.

Platitudes from President Obama such as Palestinians need to stop sending rockets into Israel, are pretty well useless, even senseless. Obviously, Israel wants peace after it has taken over most of Palestine and continues to take over the little remaining bit. That is a ridiculous request, like asking people (Palestinians) to become park benches to sit on.
