CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Jan. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The 54th
session of The Executive Program (TEP) -- the University of Virginia Darden
Executive Education flagship advanced management course -- will be held 2-28
June 2013. The curriculum for the 2013 program, which is subtitled "Strategic
Leadership at the Top," will be based on three pillars: thinking strategically,
leading strategically and influencing strategically. Applications are invited
from senior-level executives who have at least 12 years' management experience
and are currently in significant leadership roles at any size company, public or
private.

"Through TEP, senior leaders will gain new knowledge and skills, fine-tune their
strengths, challenge their way of thinking and prepare to lead an organization
in today's complex, global world," said MasterCard Professor of Business
Administration Sankaran Venkataraman ("Venkat"), TEP's faculty leader.
TEP is an on-site, four-week program in Charlottesville, Virginia. Participants
will learn from Darden's highly acclaimed faculty, who deliver a
transformational learning experience built on business best practices, the
latest academic research and Darden's signature case study method and
learning-team approach. With support from a team of seven faculty members,
participants will hone their abilities to reconcile differing viewpoints, make
decisions amidst uncertainty, and persuade and inspire others. The curriculum's
core content is designed to develop global and strategic acumen and
organizational and personal growth.
TEP also features flexible enrichment activities (e.g., touring Thomas
Jefferson's Monticello), a wellness component and a three-day guest program. For
sponsoring organizations, the program provides an immediate return on investment
through the "Back-Home Challenge." Participants identify a strategic or
leadership management challenge at work, frame the issue with their professors
and classmates and return to their jobs with fresh ideas and approaches.
"As with all of Darden's Executive Education programs, TEP not only delivers a
rich body of content but engages participants and cross-disciplinary teams of
faculty in open dialogue -- enabling participants to immediately deploy new
knowledge into their workplaces," Venkat said.
These exchanges are especially rich because of the diversity of participants
attracted by TEP. Recent TEP alumni have come from four continents and 18
different industries, including many Fortune 100 firms. Of the nearly 4,000 TEP
alumni, 47 percent have come from outside the United States.
"The Executive Program has proven to be a truly global and eye-opening
experience for participants," said Erika James, senior associate dean for
Darden Executive Education. "TEP is one way Darden demonstrates its commitment
to fulfilling its mission -- to improve society by developing principled leaders
-- not only within the youngest generations but also at the highest levels of
management."
Past participants have praised TEP as "the greatest educational experience in my
adult life" and "a tipping point for me both in work and life."
Upon completion, participants earn a Certificate in Management and gain lifelong
access to the Darden School's tight-knit, global network of alumni and
professionals.
