OAKLAND, CA, Jan 16 (Marketwire) --
The Clorox Company (NYSE: CLX) has received the Most Innovative Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) Disclosure Policy Award by Corporate
Secretary magazine. The award recognized the company's 2011 annual report
"Think Outside the Bottle," which was Clorox's first time to combine its
financial, environmental, social and governance performance in one report.

"Our environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance is
foundational to our financial success, and we believe our annual report
should reflect this," said chairman and CEO Don Knauss. "This award is
gratifying recognition for Clorox and for all companies that are using
reporting to help investors understand the strategic link between
financial and ESG performance."

This year's awards received more than 100 nominations from large and
small market-cap companies. In the category of CSR Disclosure, judges
evaluated entries based on the quality and robustness of their CSR
reporting. This included exposure to environmental risk factors, employee
health and safety, foreign corrupt practices, consumer safety, social
responsibility and corporate sustainability.

The Clorox Company's 2011 and 2012 annual reports summarize the company's
commitments and performance in five key areas of the business:

-- Performance: Achieving financial success with transparency and strong
    governance
-- Products: Making responsible products, responsibly
-- People: Promoting diversity, opportunity and respectful treatment
-- Planet: Shrinking our environmental footprint while growing our
    business
-- Purpose: Safeguarding families with Be Healthy, Be Smart and Be Safe
    initiatives

Clorox uses the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3.1 Guidelines,
which provide a recommended framework and indicators for reporting. In
2011 and 2012, Clorox reported at a GRI-checked application level of
"B+," which reflects the number of disclosures the company has included
in its reports, as well as third-party verification of its greenhouse gas
emissions.

In 2012, Clorox also joined the International Integrated Reporting
Council pilot to help shape evolving global standards for integrated
reporting.
