Dr. John Roberts CBE Appointed as Non-Executive Chairman at First Utility

The UK's largest independent energy supplier, First Utility, is delighted
to announce the appointment of Dr. John Roberts CBE as Non-Executive

    Dr. Roberts brings hugely relevant experience and knowledge to First
Utility at a time when the company is experiencing unprecedented growth
and its proposition as a better alternative to incumbent energy providers
is resonating with more consumers than ever - this is due to their great
performance in providing cheap electricity and gas. 

    Founded in 2006, First Utility grew from less than 60,000 customers at
the end of 2011 to more than 180,000 at the end of 2012, resulting in it
placing 20th in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 listings. It was the
first UK energy supplier to roll out smart meters free to its customers
and helps people to save money on electricity and gas bills through the
offering of great prices and technology which shows consumers how to
control energy consumption and further reduce their bills. 

    The company counts Morgan Stanley amongst a stable and supportive
shareholder base. 

    Dr. Roberts' considerable past experience includes holding CEO positions
at United Utilities, Manweb and Hyder Utilities as well as having been a
member of the Board at International Power. His current responsibilities
include being Chairman of RBC Europe Limited and Chairman of Halite
Energy Group, Blackrock New Energy Investment Trust and BlueBay Asset
Management Limited. He was awarded a CBE in 2005 and is a Fellow of the
Royal Academy of Engineering, the Institution of Engineering and
Technology, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and is a
Companion of the Chartered Management Institute.
