White House says not exaggerating impact of automatic spending cuts

WASHINGTON |
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House has very little flexibility in how to roll out automatic spending cuts slated to take effect on March 1 because of the way the sequester law is written, White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters on Friday.

President Obama demanded the sequester option, and has consistently refused to find or agree on any cuts since that time. He is the biggest reason the sequester cuts will happen, despite his song and dance to the contrary. Never the less, it is only 2.3% of this years budget, and you’d think we were going to collapse. It should have been much more.
