Nominations Being Accepted for The Principal Riverwalk Iowa Women of Achievement Bridge

The Principal Riverwalk Bridge to spotlight Iowa Women of Achievement

 WHAT:             The iconic bridge on The Principal Riverwalk at Center Street in downtown Des Moines will be officially named "The Iowa Women of Achievement Bridge" as part of the dedication celebration of The Principal Riverwalk to be held in April or May of 2013. The bridge will display the names of women from Iowa`s history who have been nominated by citizens and selected for recognition by a panel of judges. As part of the naming, the first women to be recognized will be announced and their plaques        
                   unveiled on the bridge.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            
 WHO:              The honorees will be selected on merit, and nominees must be historical (deceased) women who have made a positive impact on the lives of others, achieved extraordinary accomplishments, inspired future generations, and been agents for change for the betterment of our state, our nation, or the world.                                                                                                                                                                                                        
 WHEN:             Nomination deadline is Monday, April 1, 2013.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      
 HOW:              To nominate an Iowa Women of Achievement, go to All entries must be typed and submitted electronically by April 1, 2013. Any person or group may submit a nomination.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     
                   Nominations should include endorsements, and information on why this woman stands above others in her field or area of contribution. Please include results and impact of this nominee`s contributions. Nominations should be no longer than two pages.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            
                   Materials cannot be returned to the nominator, so do not submit irreplaceable documents. About The Principal Riverwalk

A gift to the city of Des Moines in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the
Principal Financial Group, The Principal Riverwalk connects the east and west
sides of Des Moines through a seamless series of walking paths and bridges. The
1.2 mile loop will anchor four downtown Des Moines major attractions: the
Botanical Center, the Court Avenue District, the Science Center of Iowa and the
